Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026 · Effective immediately

Short version: Your keystrokes are processed to generate suggestions and then discarded. We don't store what you type, we don't sell your data, and we don't train models on your writing. Your style profile lives only on your Mac.

1. What we collect

KeyboardIQ is a macOS app that intercepts text input via the macOS Accessibility API to generate writing suggestions. Here is what happens with that text:

Both crash reporting and analytics are opt-in. You can change your preference at any time in KeyboardIQ → Settings → Privacy.

2. Anthropic Claude (cloud mode)

When you use KeyboardIQ in cloud mode, text context is sent to Anthropic's API using your own Anthropic API key. KeyboardIQ never acts as a proxy for Anthropic traffic — your key, your account, your usage. Anthropic's privacy policy governs what Anthropic does with your API calls. KeyboardIQ does not retain a copy of the text sent to Anthropic.

3. Ollama (local mode)

When you use KeyboardIQ in local mode, all text processing happens on your Mac. No text is sent to any server — not to KeyboardIQ, not to Anthropic, not to anyone. Local mode is completely private by design.

4. What we do NOT collect

5. Data retention

KeyboardIQ holds text in memory only for the duration of a suggestion request. Once the suggestion is returned (or dismissed), the text is discarded from memory. There is no server-side storage of your writing.

Your local style profile is retained until you delete it via Settings → Privacy → Clear Style Data, or until you uninstall the app and remove its Application Support folder.

6. Children's privacy

KeyboardIQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us at support@keyboardiq.com.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced via the app's update notes.
